GESTAPO KHAZI

for those who don't know, Gestapo Khazi is a great new band based out of long beach, CA. they have been working their asses off playing tons of local shows over the last year and i've had the opportunity to catch a few of their sets. it goes without saying i was pretty excited when their drummer traded me a copy of one of their ultra hand made cds! the art is a combination of spray paint, screen print, and good old fashioned splattered on paint which gives each cd a "one of a kind" feel. it even comes with a little insert with lyrics desperately scrawled and photocopied together with more paint splatters. they have a 12", a 7", and two splits that were all released this summer, i'll be making posts about those as soon as i can get my hands on them.....

New Paint It Black Screen Prints!

these are 2 new posters i designed and screen printed for Paint It Black. the first one was for a show in Philadelphia with Naked Raygun, the second was a UK tour poster with Ceremony.... both prints are 3 colors on 18"x24" 100lb paper. the Naked Raygun was printed with a glossy black over black ink, and was tough to photograph, so you'll have to trust me that it looked pretty awesome in person... go see Paint It Black on their UK tour if you want to snag a print for yourself! check out Screenin 4 A Change to see more of my poster work....

"The Only English Band That Matters..."

2009 has been a great year for awesome Clash flyers and poster art surfacing on the internet. these are some of my favorites of what i have found lately.... true to punk form, these posters range in style from the interesting and clever design to the cut & paste photocopy. i really love the 2 from the Fillmore shows that don't even say the clash, just "the best band ever, direct from England" and "the only English band that matters". since we are talking about the clash though, i doubt there was much confusion....

Surf vs. Skate Art Show This Weekend...

i have a hand painted skate deck in a group show called "Surf Vs. Skate" that is opening this weekend down in Encinitas, come check it out if you are in the area! ....lots of free beer, music, and killer art to be had courtesy of Quiksilver! here's a quick pic of my deck for those who won't be able to attend.... it is a collage of thinly sliced strips of paper mixed in with some test prints from my print shop for color and then black acrylic paint on top.
