School Jerks Lp

holy shit, the new School Jerks Lp just killed it.  once again Tara Bursey handled all the illustration work for this release as she did on their earlier EP, and once again i am blown away.  instead of focusing in on a single image as subject matter, we have been presented with a series of smaller images arranged around the parameter of the cover which creates somewhat of a tattoo flash / sketchbook feel.  these smaller images were all given excellent attention to detail, and each one would make for a strong piece on its own....

these covers were professionally offset printed black ink on white coated cover stock, cut and glued.  the back cover has another 7 small illustrations floating around the typewriter-set song titles in the center of the panel.  i'm not usually a big fan of cross hatch shading in illustration work, but she controls her pen lines very well and brings in the right level of depth to her drawings...

there is a folded newsprint insert included with this release that has been one color spot printed with a bright green ink.  the artwork is basically a mash up of all the illustrated elements from the front and back cover art overlayed with the typewritten lyrics in a small box near the center.  i would have loved to have seen more of her illustration work here (maybe just a single drawing large with the lyrics below?), but what this insert lacks in originality it makes up for in execution.  green ink on newsprint!?!?! love it....

A and B labels were totally phoned in, but matching green vinyl is fucking awesome.  i really hope the whole pressing was done in this color....

you can grab this from Grave Mistake, and totally should cause it's awesome!
