i grabbed this Dead Friends 12" recently from the Drugged Conscience web store. the covers were hand screen printed with a metallic silver and black ink on a thin chipboard style cardstock. super gnarly blown out artwork that is the epitomy of punk. this image has been illustrated, photocopied, tortured and screen printed to a point of obscurity. i would have liked to have seen the DEAD FRIENDS type larger and sitting above the illustration maybe since there is some weird space up there, but fuck it, i love it anyway...
since these covers are folded along the bottom of the jacket, the bottom of the artwork that wraps around from the front does not make for a great composition by itself. in fact, they probably should have thought that one thru a bit longer before going to print , cause it's just weird on the back panel....
here is a shot of the covers unfolded, looks awesome! maybe i'll hang it on my wall....
this record also comes with a 24 page 5.25" x 5.25" photocopied lyric book that is just killer looking! every page in this collection has a really great balance of type mixing, hand drawing elements and photography. they clearly put some time into making this, i wish more bands today would do the same. here are some shots of the pages that i liked the most...
the A and B labels (or, D & F respectfully) are a trip, i am guessing that the band posed for these shots themselves....
nice work, keep it up...
