Bloody Gears - Frozen Rain Ep

finally!!!  another killer record from one of the greatest bands currently playing, the new Bloody Gears "Frozen Rain" ep.  stylistically, this record falls right in line with the aesthetic that was established on their previous output, as their singer / guitar player Jeff once again put the artwork together for this release.  i love the way he mashes up the nature elements with the human faces and hand made typography, creating dark undertones that beautifully pair with the music of the title track.  i love seeing that their artwork is evolving right along with their sound....

these covers were professionally offset printed with black ink on a lightweight pale grey paper stock.  it's actually an excellent choice of materials for this cover since it feels raw and delicate in your hand despite being professionally produced.  on the back panel, the track listing was hand written out and scanned in along with the bare essentials of the liner notes below.  the type is orderly yet totally approachable with lots of character, i love it...

the A and B side labels are silver and black, which looks good with the covers even though its not a perfect match.  the A side has the info layed out in a traditional 45 ep label format, with an image from the cover art and hand written type worked in.  the off-centered Bloody Gears logo really puts this label over the top for me, it looks so good....

the B side label is simply the front cover image further abstracted to be more about positive / negative color space....

if you haven't checked this band out yet, do yourself a favor and grab this ep from the Grave Mistake web store, i think they have their new LP in stock as well....
