Resi Noth CD...

i picked up this Resi Noth Cd recently from Drugged Conscience Records based entirely on the cover art,  this thing is insane!  really dynamic geo-based photo collage that makes great use of black and white values. this looks to be comprised of at least 2 or 3 separate images, all of which are so obscured thru the tight rectangular shapes of the composition that it is impossible to make out what they once were.  even with all this graphic chaos going on, you get a nice clean read of the band name thru the side of the jewel case, really glad they didn't try to work it into the actual cover art...

the back cover of the cd has this big black orb floating in the dead center, and the only type going on here is simply the Drugged Conscience catalog number.  it's nice to have some opened up negative space here in contrast to the front panel having so much intricate detail.  i kind of see a face in this orb thing, but then again i always do...

here is a shot of the cd cover open.  the inside panel has an interesting mix of a cool sketched pencil illustration overlayed on a weird wheel of human emotions.  i'm not picking up on the intended message here, but i do like the visual juxtaposition of the found / vintage chart and the cropped / abstracted illustration.  on the cd face, another abstracted image, possibly some sort of heavy illustration.  pretty hard to tell what it is, but again, i am liking the playful color contrasts and use of opposing shapes between the 2 panels...

pop the disc out to see another illustration sitting behind the disc tray.  not sure what to make of this one, it's definitely lacking the abstract sophistication the other panels achieve, and i am really not a fan of the style in which it was rendered...

unfold the cover panel for a lyric sheet insert.  all the lyrics and liner notes are organized and easy to read, nothing too flashy but certainly managed well.  there is also a really great, kinda creepy drawing on the opposite panel from the lyric sheet that i love.  it's not everyday that you see a surrealist leaning charcoal illustration in a punk record, and that thing is frame-worthy...
